# paints

random doodles i made in mspaint inside a windows 2000 vm. they're very ametureish, but im not sure what you're expecting.

## this page

it's more like a mirror of files from a folder within that vm. so to update, i just edit that folder and rebuild the website. neat!

made using the usual tech i currently use:
- sveltekit
- tailwindcss
- sass

and it does the usual website stuff:
- light and dark mode
- touch screen support
- responsive
- works without javascript (within reason)

## files

### readme.txt

about this thing. its present in most folders, and file descriptions generate using the "files" section in here.

### create.bat

it's a simple batch script that creates a new daily drawing. you put in a name, and it creates an empty bitmap also with the current date in its name. neat!

### template.bmp

what create.bat uses to create a new bitmap. the weird box at the top left is where the thumbnail crops to, so i can kinda set one.

### 2024-02-24 bird.bmp

feel uninspired, likely due to some current events in my life. however i feel like rambling about music so see the readme for this file

so my music tastes are Kinda obscure when compared to the average person. bqt this is neocities baby and you're here so i bet you might recognize something. and also, i dont really know who anyone is here. i just get stuff from spotify and last.fm.

some artists i like:

- EX-LYD: like my favorite artist in general. great chiptune
- Proux: great future funk
- Macross 82-99: also great future funk. they sometimes sample yoshi
- Toby Fox: what more do you expect from a neocities website
- meganeko: great bitpop(?) man idk genres. i think ex-lyd is more bitpop too or digital fusion or something
- AdhesiveWombat: i feel confident saying they do chiptune
- tiasu: same with them. have not listened to them in a minute
- C418: great electronic(?). really dunno genres

speaking of genres i think artists like meganeko and ex-lyd also classify as funk? but im no expert

some albums i like

- EX-LYD - Chip Heat: just an all around great album that i have yet to get sick of. ocean of colors is so chill i dislike none of the songs on this album
	- fav songs
		- mammagammaguchi (peak)
		- meow
		- pink sand (lil overrated imo)
	- album art: the album art is appealing to look at. the color scheme and the diagonal lines from the subway and rule of thirds(?) makes it for me i think. believe it was commissioned when i snooped on twitter (ex-lyd doesnt seem to have that active of a twitter account, or really anything from what ive seen. but they're the only artist ive actually sat down and searched up online). i think im better at analyzing the album art cuz i actually took a class on art appreciation
	- silly side note: i previously hated this album due to how upbeat it was. in reality, it is great i love it. kinda like dipping into a hottub ig.

- meganeko - Sequence Break: great upbeat songs that i also cannot get sick of. the 2k9 battle jam remix was eh.
	- fav songs:
		- lights camera action
		- daydreamer
		- sharkatzor
(its really hard to pick a favorite between these three, but rn i like sharkatzor a lot)
	- album art: i also like the album art

- EX-LYD - Till Sunrise: another great album from ex-lyd. really gives me the vibes of staying up, likely because i listened to this album a lot when staying up coding
	- fav songs:
		- arcadeez (bop)
		- gusic music (a common theme for ex-lyd seems to be cats.)

- Toni Leys - Blast Processor: im really bad at reviewing stuff wow. i think its like the genesis and i like how it sounds. for some reason i thought this was a mega collection across like several artists, but no. it is a short album and its mainly just toni leys lol.
	- fav songs:
		- hit the ground running
		- they come from above (one of the first chiptune songs ive came across)
	- album art: i also like the album art

- cTrix - A for Amiga: who is cTrix? not sure, and this is all they've released, and i think its tracker music. not really sure what else it would be tbh. i mean is amiga. all pretty goood
	- fav songs:
		- final flight (always thought of this song like a battle)
		- reach for the stars

- tiasu - Escape: chiptune. it has some weak songs and some really great songs. however, i havent listened to these songs in a _while_.
	- fav songs:
		- escape (really a banger!!!)
		- ruin (another banger)
		- bolt (another)
		- besiege (another)
		- negligent (another)
		- guillotine
	- album art: look at that album art. red gameboy. how cool.

- Proux - Back By Popular Demand: and some future funk. its goood but also im confused by how sampling works, like how sampled is this ? is this just remix? is this totally origional? ive been duped before by a mamma mia cover before. dont get me wrong i like the album
	- fav songs:
		- lemniskate (so good)
		- lovin' me

- Skule Toyama - Stereo: i have totally no idea what the genre is but
	- fav songs:
		- you and me
		- palace

some individual songs i like. may be some duplicates from the albums

- EX-LYD - Cosmic Dance: idk what the person be saying but it is really great.
	- album art: i like the cat mech and the border being catsy cutesly and chaotic.

- 黒魔 (Chroma) - Dark Sheep: a pretty intense track but it is quite good.

- Tanchiky - Energy Synergy Matrix - Extended: also intense but also good.

- Castle Carousel - Internet Moms: for some reason this song has lyric support on spotify for what is like 5 sampled sentences at the start (but not the 2 sentences at the end). anyway its really chill nice, belive its also future funk

- coda - Tires on Fire: fire

- EX-LYD - Space Fractal: kinda repetitive, but i like it.

- Rav - You Fuckers Were Asking for This One: good rap, quite short but i cant really imagine it being longer

- CHOMPO, meganeko - Dodo (RED VERSION): chompo has all kind of intense songs, and this is like top tier. also wonder what's the difference between chompo and tokyo machine, but i dont listen to tokyo machine so whatever.
